As a musician, it will only be a matter of time before you take your guitar on its first trip. Thus, you will have to make an effort to protect it. The guitar care tips that follow should help you.

If you are traveling by car, don’t put your guitar in the trunk. It is much safer in the back seat because most car trunks are neither heated nor ventilated and thus the temperatures can fluctuate wildly. Freezing or overheating your guitar can cause a crack or warp to occur. It is important to be aware that your guitar is assembled with glues that can be affected by heat causing breakdown and loosening of glue adhesion. Most commonly affected is the bridge.

If you are travelling by car, it is also wise to protect your guitar by putting it inside a hard case. Make sure to shop around as prices vary widely. You may want to consider a second hand one which you should easily find on ebay.
