Welcome to our Feel Good Inc guitar lesson. The arrangement in this lesson will help you improve your skills at switching between playing notes and chords and vice-versa. In addition, it is a wonderful song for practicing playing major and minor bar chord shapes. Feel Good Inc. is on Gorillaz’ album Demon Days released in 2005.
You will need to tune your guitar a semitone down to play along with the audio track of this song. Tune your guitar as follows from the 6th string to the 1st string:
E♭ – A♭ – D♭ – G♭ – B♭ – E♭
Song structure
The song’s arrangement is as follows:
- Intro
- Verse 1
- Chorus
- Verse 2
- Interlude
- Chorus
- Verse 3
- Outro
Guitar part
The main riff of the song (see fig. 1) is featured in the intro, verses and outdo. Although it is played on bass guitar, it is arranged here for a 6-string guitar. A slide is performed at the end of the riff on the bass guitar. This has not been included in the adapted guitar riff. A second riff (see fig. 2) is played at the end of the first verse. It is only two bars long.
The chorus has an acoustic guitar part (see fig. 3) that is played using the bar chords E minor, D major, A minor and B minor. For beginners, you may want to substitute the bar chord versions of E minor, D major and A minor for their open chords version. This is because the D major bar chord shape can be tricky.
Conclusion
Hope you enjoyed our Feel Good Inc guitar lesson. This beginner song is suitable for both acoustic and electric guitars. It is the ideal song to build confidence for those learning to pick notes individually. The strumming pattern is quick to master and is excellent for beginners learning bar chords.

Feel Good Inc. – Lyrics
[Verse 1]
City’s breaking down on a camel’s back
They just have to go ‘cause they don’t know wack
So all you fill the streets, it’s appealing to see
You won’t get out the county, ‘cos you’re damned as free
You got a new horizon, it’s ephemeral style
A melancholy town where we never smile
And all I wanna hear is the message beep
My dreams, they’ve got to kiss, ‘cause I don’t get sleep, no.
[Chorus]
Windmill, windmill for the land
Turn forever hand in hand
Take it all in on your stride
It is ticking, falling down
Love forever, love is free
Let’s turn forever, you and me
Windmill, windmill for the land
Is everybody in?
[Verse 2]
Laughing gas these hazmats, fast cats
Lining them up-a like ass cracks
Ladies, ponies at the track
It’s my chocolate attack
S*** I’m stepping in the heart of this here
Care bear bumping in the heart of this here
Watch me as I gravitate
Ha – ha – ha – ha – ha – ha.
Yo, we goin’ ghost town, this motown, with yo’ sound
You’re in the place, you gonna bite the dust
Can’t fight with us, with yo sound you kill the Inc.
So don’t stop, get it, get it until you’re jet ahead
Yo, watch the way I navigate ha – ha – ha – ha – ha.
[Chorus]
Windmill, windmill for the land
Turn forever hand in hand
Take it all in on your stride
It is ticking, falling down
Love forever, love is free
Let’s turn forever, you and me
Windmill, windmill for the land
Is everybody in?
[Verse 3]
Don’t stop, get it, get it
we are your captains in it
Steady, watch me navigate
Ha – ha – ha – ha – ha
Don’t stop, get it, get it
we are your captains in it
Steady, watch me navigate
Ha – ha – ha – ha – ha
[Outro]
(shake it, shake it, shake it.)
